Remembering Smoking Joe Frazier 1944-2011

I was going through my photos the other day, and I wanted to pay tribute to "Smokin'" Joe Frazier, the Undisputed World Heavyweight boxing champion, whose professional career lasted from 1965 to 1976. The victor of the "Fight of the Century" in 1971 vs Muhammad Ali. I met him at an event at the Idaho auto auction a few years back. He died November 7th 2011. Rest in peace Smokin' Joe!

Owens little neighbor girl friends that live next door did some hair sculpting on his melon tonight. The girls brought him over and he said that he looks like Justin Beiber... Jr carved his own pumpkin and he did it without cutting or jabbing himself, or anybody else. The boys actually did most of the decorating this year. I was busy that night, and Rachael worked the night before so the boys went to town on their own little Halloween decorations. they used some of the spray can stuff that looks like cob webs. They love halloween, and are looking forward to dressing up very soon. I love Jr's pumpkin head so much I am using it as my Facebook profile picture.

I have my brand new 4s ready to go out of the box but I can't use it because ATT can't get their servers up and running to activate my new iPHone. I checked twitter and there is a ton of other people tweeting about the issues. They are like that third friend in the group that always messes things up. You can't stand being around them, but your other friend is committed to them, so you are stuck with all their crap.

I just wanted to give a big thank you to our BBC team for creating such a beautiful home. From the excavators down to the decorators this home is amazing and you guys did a fantastic job! We are nearing the first weekend of the Fall Parade (formally known as the Fall Collection) and the home looks great. A few more final touches with some decorations and we will be ready for the big show. Please put us on your schedule for this weekend, you need to come by and see this home. The colors came together so well, and if you liked the last Hemlock you will really love this redesigned larger edition. Soon as its completely finished with decorations, we will add the master bath, bedroom, garage and some more exterior photos. If you haven't dropped by Spurwing Greens lately, you probably didn't notice the new Fred Meyers grocery store being built just 1.4 miles from the community. Fred Meyers is a nice addition to the many shopping choices you have when you live in Spurwing Greens Community. The section of land is called the Eagle Island Market Place, and the new Fred Meyer Super Store will take up 188,000 Sq. Ft. of space of the total 350,000 sq ft space available in the market place. I finally updated the "wall of boys" finally. It took me a couple of years but its complete now. We have 3 20x30 frames in our front entry way, and each frame is a collage of about 10-15 photos. We would like to update it once a year, but we haven't kept up with it. We now have it completed for the year! Here is a photo of the photos. (i know, who takes photos of a photo?). At costco you can upload your photos and order your 20x30 prints for 8.99 Its so easy to do too.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Boise State administrators say they have responded to the NCAA regarding a series of alleged rule violations in the football program and other sports.
An NCAA inquiry identified 22 allegations dating from 2005-2010 for football, men and women's tennis and track and field.
University officials sent information to the NCAA last week and on Monday affirmed the school's commitment to following the rules of collegiate athletics.
Boise State President Bob Kustra says he is disappointed about the possible violations and says wrongdoing is unacceptable.
The school launched an internal investigation in 2009 into possible violations in rules for housing, meals, transportation - among others.
School officials reported some previously unknown infractions and also terminated coaches after a more serious violation emerged in the women's tennis program.
A final NCAA report is expected to take several months.

Boise State University has officially responded to the NCAA regarding rule violations in the sports of men’s tennis, football, and men’s and women’s track and field, as well as a major violation concerning women’s tennis. The combination of several secondary violations and the major one has led the NCAA to allege a lack of institutional control within Boise State athletics.
An NCAA inquiry contained 22 allegations from 2005-2010 and asked for additional information from the university pertaining to each. The university formally responded on April 25, 2011. The NCAA Committee on Infractions will review the response on June 10. A final NCAA report is expected to take several more months.
“I am confident we have responded thoroughly to the NCAA. Our internal review was comprehensive and our response was very detailed. We will continue to provide our full cooperation,” said Boise State President Bob Kustra.
“We are deeply committed to following all NCAA rules and to ensuring that our athletic department works diligently so that our procedures reflect the highest standard,” Kustra said. “I am disappointed that we face these allegations. It is unacceptable, and the athletic department staff understand and agree with my position.”
“Complying with NCAA rules is fundamental to who we are and how we do things at Boise State,” said Athletics Director Gene Bleymaier. “We have addressed the issues and are working with the NCAA to bring this to a close.”
Boise State began an internal investigation in March 2009 at the request of the NCAA. Through May 2010, Boise State responded to the inquiry and self-reported some undiscovered secondary infractions in preparation for a summary disposition in which the university, NCAA enforcement staff and involved individuals agreed on the violations.
However, a new, serious violation in women’s tennis occurred in October 2010. Boise State removed those coaches in November. As a result of the new violation, the NCAA decided that the case would now be sent to the Committee on Infractions rather than the agreed upon summary disposition for less severe cases.
The majority of allegations involve impermissible housing, transportation or meals, where an incoming student-athlete was provided a place to sleep (often on a couch or floor), a car ride or was provided free food by an existing student-athlete.
In football, the NCAA determined that total dollar value over five years was $4,934 for all of the housing, transportation and meals provided to 63 incoming student-athletes. All services ranged from $2.34 to a maximum of $417.55 and have been reimbursed by the student-athletes. In tennis and track and field, the NCAA determined that 16 student-athletes had received extra benefits over the five years equaling a $718 value. Other small dollar excess benefits are also alleged in the notice. All these funds were reimbursed as well and all were donated to charity.
Additional allegations of NCAA violations include:
• From 2005-2008, track and field coaches conducted impermissible practice sessions for five international incoming student-athletes prior to enrollment.
• In 2010, women’s tennis coaches provided an incoming student-athlete with impermissible educational expenses and entertainment, conducted impermissible practice sessions and permitted the athlete to compete prior to enrollment.
Boise State already has implemented several changes to avoid future violations, including the hiring of additional compliance staff, updating policies in its athletics compliance manual, increasing rules education and improving compliance documentation, as well as transferring compliance responsibility and oversight from the athletic department to the President’s Office through the General Counsel.

Steak, Crab, Muscles, and Smashed Potatoes Dinner

We went to Brighton marina to do some crab'n this morning, and we brought back some delicious dungeness male crabs. Rebecca is doing a blog for a company about the steak, and crab and she hired me to take the photos of the dinner we made. It looked amazing, and it tasted even better. I have never liked crab, and I opened my mind to trying it again, and it tasted great. The crab I have eaten before was never fresh, and it was usually too fishy, or crabby smelling. I cracked it open, and gave it a taste even without butter and it was amazing. I still like crab better, but I was impressed. Rebecca is a food stylist, and she does a fantastic job at preparing food to get it camera ready for all types of media. This was our last night here on the Oregon Coast and I think we are all sad it's over, but also excited to get back home to our regular routines.

Bayocean Rocks

We have been driving by these rocks everyday since we have been here, and the rain finally broke so I could get out my nikon to take some photos. The sun was not shining, but at least the rain drops stopped for a minute. I used aperture with photomatix hdr plugin to edit these photos. I still have a lot to learn, but I'm getting better at it.

Entering Tsunami Hazard Zone

I was driving down to the local grocery store, and on the way I noticed this sign. This is actually the sign we see when we first come into the little town that we are staying in. I'm so glad they are warning us, because if a 25 foot wall of water comes crashing into the beach house I wont be wondering where the water is coming from. They actually have little signs showing you the way for tsunami escape routes.... can you imagine during a tsunami,, "ok honey.. where is that tsunami sign at again?" I don't think I need signs, I am going in a straight line in my suburban full throttle to the nearest mountain. I will take out houses, fences, cows, or whatever lies between me and being king of the hill.

We went on an adventure up north today to Seaside Oregon, about 40 miles North of Rockaway Beach. It has been raining for two days. I haven't been able to take any cool photos of the outside landscapes because the rain is so bad. I stopped on the way back from Seaside and decided to take a few photos even though the rain was coming down. Such a beautiful area, close to Haystack Hill State Park. I used my iPhone with my cool HDR app. Check them out.

Air Museum in Tillamook Oregon

We took a drive out to the Air Museum just south of Tillamook Oregon. The hanger was built in 1942, and it housed 4 blimps that were used to patrol the Oregon Coast just in case we had some submarine attacks during world war 2. There was a ton of cool old planes in the hanger, and there was a big fat plane that had Erickson printed on the side. The boys had a great time. Check out some of the planes, they are way cool.

I know I have posted a lot of stuff today on our little family getaway, but I love digitizing the world, and leaving some lasting memories. From the main room of the beach house on the second floor we have a perfect view of the ocean. Open beams with glass walls on the west and south side of the house. The house has been updated on the inside with granite slab, and tile flooring. There is some high end Wolf gas range, and sub zero fridge (which is actually not keeping the food that cold). Here are a couple of shots of the upper level.
Any yes, I did have some coco puffs this morning with a couple of Oreo cookies on the side. Breakfast of champions!
